jackso11
Does anyone know? I was thinking maybe a 255, or is that too much of a stretch? Anyone got wide tyres on an 8J rear wheel?

merckx
Does anyone know? I was thinking maybe a 255, or is that too much of a stretch? Anyone got wide tyres on an 8J rear wheel? Definately too wide. My car came like this, the result was a significant split on the inside sidewall of both front tyres.
Ian W
yep, too wide. i have a 255 on my 8.5j's and that's as wide as i'd go on those. probably a 235 on an 8j imo.

JonW
That's odd, the calculator on there says that 225/50/16 isn't wide enough for an 8jj rim, however inside the drivers door this is exactly the tyre size that it suggest using???
Guest Terry S
Tyres differ from make to make. You may well find a 255 that is within spec on an 8J, although most state min width of 8.5" for a 255 edit just looked at the Goodyear Eagle GS-D3 specs and for a 255/45/17 it give a min width of 8" Hope that helps
Ian W
that's very odd jon w as i've used the calculator no problem at all lol thanks for clarifying that terry
