Wez
Yep, only really neccesary with big mods and high boost or with an AEM when you want to run over a 1 BAR of boost.
Guest Twincharge
Thanks for replying Oh....ok I admit Im not a Supra owner, but at least it is Toyota! I just knew someone here would be using it. Im running a HKS Twincharge setup in my Corolla GTi-16 (Supercharger & Turbo) and put in the HKS Twin-Power DLI a few months ago. I then started to experience some ignition problems that seems intermittent. At some points the car just stalled and refused to start, it really made the car undrivable. After eliminating every ignition component and all wiring, I eventually turned to the Twin-Power, unplugged and the problem went away! Plugged it back in and the problem re-surfaced! Now Im not sure if it has become faulty or not, or if I have even installed it correctly. I know that the Supra ignitor is very similiar to my own (4AGZE), in fact some guys use it on their 4AGZE. Could you tell me if your red LED on the Twin-Power module is solidly lite or if it is supposed to flash with the ignition? Any chance you could tell me what wires you tapped into for the yellow wires coming from the Twin-Power?
Adam W
I've read that it makes the ignition coil(s) work a lot harder and can lead to quick coil failures on higher mileage engines. Might be worth looking into.
Wez
The LED flashes in time with ignition although sometimes does appear solid. Did you use the nasty wire tap clips that came with it or did you solder? Goto http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com and look under ignition, there are some independant instructions which I used and I have had no issues so far.
