V
Or more to the point, how do i find out how high my house is? Setting up one of those mini weatehr stations (yes i'm a sad git ) Been searching on the net and havent come across anything yet. Is it a trip down to my local registry office type place (what ever they are called) Cheers
Pete
How strange - I was thinking about this last night...if the floods were to come, how high is my house? Don't ask me why. Can't you tell from OS maps? or do you know anyone with a GPS jobby that walkers use?

GetawayDriver
how accurate do you need to be? how about an altimeter? or one of them and held gps units with a built in altimeter climbers use?
tbourner
We must be about 5 feet above sea level!!!
Bob
You can get in touch with Ordnance Survey and get their nearest benchamrk to your property, then check with them how that correlates to sea level (i.e. is the ordnance datum for that area = sea level). attilauk
you can find the closest benchmark to your place if you search around on multimap, thats how i used to get OS levels for surveys in remote locations
Bob
Really? That's handy, usually get the companies to pay £23 or so for a list of OBMs.
attilauk
yeah it takes a bit of searching but they are on there (after all multimap uses licenced maps from the OS)

SteveR
Google Earth shows you - just put the cursor over wherever you're interested in and the altitude is shown at the bottom/side somewhere.

V
I've said it before, but i'll say it again - this place is amazing Want to know anything and within a few hours you get the answer(s) Looks like: 1. i'm on the fringe of getting wet if we have extreme flooding. 2. 136' above sea level (assuming thats what the number is on the bottom left of Google Earth - note new update) 3. Down to Argos to make use of their 16 day money back guarantee to buy a sod off Casio Many thanks people
