MONKEYmark
i have 264/264 idle is great 500-600 seems to have loads of pull.im on stock jap turbos.i was put off 272`s as i got told they too lumpy and mainly for big power cars. 264/264 there is no problems at all. i got cams and cam gears as i was doing a cam belt change so thought i would get cams and gears too
Ian C
A staggered setup was great with hybrids, I've still got the same set and by god they give a power spike above 5000rpm They really come into play at the top end, can't say I noticed a loss of power low down either. Can't see how changing to stiffer valve springs would reduce wear on the cam lobes -Ian

Alex
Ian have you 256/264 then ? Yes he does. How about 272/264? We need someone to try it and see if it works...but consider the valcon system for a second. The VVT-i Valcon system switches the intake cam from a 256 to a 272 through the power band...and yet the exhaust cam recommended is a 264. So at high RPM's it's running a 272in 264ex configuration....

supRo
Can any of you clever chaps give Piper a ring to see if their Cams for the Supra could be any good? I don't know anything about cams. Obviously the HKS cams are tried and tested but I thought it might be interesting to see if the Piper range has any positive potential? We have a good selection of profiles for the Supra and are new in our 2006 catalogue, we have also just released the camshafts on blanks. We can reprofile the standard units for you @ £315.00 plus VAT for the pair. Please call on 01233 500200 to discuss cam specs. Lucifer
Yes Piper cams are good for other applications, they have a good name, we are stocking these shortly.
supRo
Yes Piper cams are good for other applications, they have a good name, we are stocking these shortly. Any Ideas on the Supra Piper cams Martin? "camshaft on blanks" - does that mean newly machined cams from blank? I did look into these earlier on in the year but they said to call and I wouldn't have known what I/they were talking about! Thanks, Ro

Thanks Martin Yup, the only thing I've learnt from before is that re-profiling stock cams is a bad idea. Cheers, Ro
Steve Sherwood
I run 272 cams in my car I am amazed at how well the car runns in all conditions from town drivig to 8000 + rpm. Power starts to build from 4000 rpm. Power below 4000 is more than adequate for every day driving.

Steve Sherwood
The motor has had a full rebuild with bearings, rods, pistons, gaskets, head work, valve springs and retainers cams, the full job.

Miguel
Steve what management are you using? I think Steve is using AEM http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=
Steve Sherwood
Yes I use AEM. Rev limit set at 8500, the turbo runs out of puff at 8000 so this is the time to change up, if you take it to 8000 there is on lag as you change up. I have a HKS 264 VVTi cam we will at some point fit this and have it maped, it will be good to make comparisons.
