whitesupratt
I have just bought a second car to save me petrol Money and wear and tear/milage in the Supra. There's one big problem... I got a 1.4 Astra L reg 5 door. It cost me £250 mot'd and taxed, but this is how insurance works: You cant split your no claims between vehicals, I have 5, almost 6 years no claims, but my Supra is insured with my 5 years no claims, therefore they re seen as 'in use'. So I had to insure the Astra as a second car with no, no claims, as it all used up on the Supra. So, a 13 year old astra, 1.4 costs me £478 for a year JUST THIRD PARTY, as my 5 years NCD is used up on the Supe. DEFINATLY SAVED ME FUEL THO! - it was £20 work and back in supra a day, now about £20 a week.

chilli
I had a clio 1.4 RT, originally paid £600 for it at 70k miles, not a bad car, all the mod cons plus excellent mpg (50mpg), 2.5 years and 30+k miles later with almost no servicing and it's just about dead (RIP) but that's less than £300 per year, cost more than that in proper servicing of a more expensive car, let alone depreciation lol just got a punto 75sx for £500, hoping that will do a good stint now, fingers crossed. ideal for getting to work and other mundane journies, and you can park them anywhere without having to worry (e.g. supermarkets) all in all it saves a fortune I'd say, think of 30k miles of wear and tear, tyres, servicing and fuel bills, ouch £! having the same problem though, got two lots of NCB adding up, but low groupage on the runabout means it's only like 200 per year or so (3rd party) - fully comp using my full NCB is on the supe of course.
