ok , i commented earlier in another thread about youngsters and supra ownership .

point i tried to make was with the price of the supra coming down , more young guys are buying these cars , but have not grown up in their attitude to this forum in general .

and as for your attitude flat 4 toward members who have been here quite a long time , just shows your immaturity .

just take a step back before you piss any more guys off , because i dont think it will be tollerated much longer .

by the way i see youve owned a honda , subauru, been kicked out of their clubs by any chance

I have not got time to plough through all this crap. I am 110% with CJ on this one. First Dibb's is total bollox. It pisses me off.

If you are prepared to but something say so. "I'll take it" will do. Then every one knows it gone.

First dibbs sounds like kids talk, for I might want it so I put my name down to block everyone else but reserve the right to change my mind if I can't afford it or decide it is the wrong shade of puce to match my eyes.

Grow up and be decisive, ether you want it or you don’t. It really is that simple.

Is it just me or is this place sinking down a slippery slope.

It is suggested that this expression derives from a very old children's game called dibstones. This game, played with sheep knuckle-bones or pebbles, dates back at least to the 17th century. The object was to capture one's opponent's stones, and when a stone was captured, the victorious player would call "Dibbs!" with the meaning "I claim [the stone]". It soon came to be used outside the game but with a similar meaning, and there you have it. Interestingly, that usage outside of the game isn't recorded until 1932 in the US.

The UK equivalent is bags I, which means "I bag (capture)" whatever it is the speaker wants.

Dibs is also a slang term for money, deriving from the notion that the kind of pebbles used in dibstones were also used as chips when playing cards, and the word went from referring to something that represented money to a figurative term for the money itself.

Oh, and why dibstones? It is thought to come from dib, a derivative of dab "to strike", presumably from the notion of "striking" and capturing one's opponents.

PS: I hate you all

I feel a quote is in order for this occasion. Here is one of my favourites that stuck in my mind from a couple of years ago, which epitomises the human interaction that is the Internet Forum - succinctly summing up the intrinsic problems and issues inherent with simple text being the communication medium used...

"Write like a retard, I'll treat you like a retard."

-Jake Jacobs

-Ian

PS has it really only been three weeks?

I disregard any comments labled up as 'first dibbs'. As its been echoed its the "dibser" right to block any other aproachers offer but allow them to change there mind if they wanted.

More importantly it makes you sound a private school'd, blazer loving 7 year old.

Money Talks! :)
