Justin
In the cold weather I'm hitting 19.4 psi/1.33 bar I quite like running at that pressure but obviously won't if/when the turbo blades exit the exhaust pipe and take out a motorcyclist behind. I know I can fit a smaller bore restrictor plate (already have one in) but can I get away with aquamist water injection cooling? Or are there more scary things that could happen like bendy con rods etc??? I am presuming I have stock Turbos but my Thor Dyno'd 357 RWHP - 420+ bhp print out may suggest otherwise. Ideas? Ta. Wez
The issue really isn`t the turbos although pressure that high is prob way out of their effeciency, it is the fueling, the stock MAP sensor and ECU can not correctly fuel at those load points which means 9 out 10 times you are going to be lean which is bad. :flame Dev
Dragonball
By an FSE from me - Yippee!... ...gets coat! I hit 1.3 today too - and I'm gonna get Dude to fix mine next week to get the old fuel pumpin'!
Wez
When you install the FSE check pressure at cold and also when engine is hot, it may need more adjusting when engine is hot.
Justin
So if I'm running lean do I need just an FSE or will I need a pump, bigger injectors and an AFC too????? This is gonna cost me
dude
You should be fine with a pump and FSE for the time being, its allways nice to have the bigger injectors but if you go for the uk's you gotta chop into the loom for thre resistor pack and you will have to fit an SAF-c or similar to control the fueling , BTW i dont think that 1.33 is too excessive , if your worried about No2 going ping why dont you have a word with Matty H and get him to do the ETTC mod , its only cheap and you will like it , but you need to give the ECU a week or so to learn the new mod , at first its a bit horrible . GavinL
If there were any fueling problems I'm sure Pete would have mentioned it on the dyno?

The words from Pete I remember were something like 'a little bit lean here'. Pointing at an area on the chart. See what you can make of the figures on my chart. Dragonball
Probably around the 4200 mark just where the 2nd has kicked in? Someone who knows what they are talking about will be along soon!
Justin
So am I running lean boys or not??
Wez
Doesn`t look too bad, it goes a little leaner around turbo transition but not too lean, I think optimum power is around 12.5:1 AFR. Looks like you have enough fuel in the top range as well. And i agree, pete would have said something if your fueling was dangerous. :flame Dev
Justin
OK just heard some horror stories of peoples MKIV 4 engine inards after running too high boost. I'm gonna have one restrictor plate for the summer and a smaller one for the winter me thinks.
