Steve Cargill
I've got 6 litres of Castrol Magnatec 10/40 in the shed. Is it OK for the Supra TT? Looking at the info on the bottle it is synthetec, for Advanced engines (offer 75% more protection on startup !!!! ) and approved by several manufactures including Porsche ( wow )
Gordon F
I am after oil info as well! I always used Mobil 1 (0-40) on my last car (RS Turbo). Does anyone use it on Supra TT's or is there something significantly better on the market.
Syed Shah
I used to use 0-40 in my Supras, but Leon advised against it saying it would go past the seals. So i now use 10-50 Valvoline Synpower instead ( available form Shop! )
Steve Cargill
On the last oil change th garage used Mobil 1 and since then the oil pressure light takes a bit longer to go off if the car has been standing. After a few days it used to take 1-2 seconds now it takes 4-5 seconds. No change in oil consumption though - still doesn't use any!!
Rob
If its any use, I used to use Magnatec in my Celica, and still use it in my Audi A6 1.8Turbo. I would imagine it is fine for a Supra. I use the Esso Ultron which is similar, albeit without the super magnetic qualities.
Steve Cargill
Found this old thread on Search given the recent oil discussion. The slowness in my oil light going out was actually the oil pump failing and taking out the big ends with it.... I know Leon uses Valvolene, not sure which grade though. Sounds like 0 is too thin, a 10-40 or -50 is better?
adi
I use magnatec in the 1JZ ...
Terminator
Steve I went back to it after Valvoline 5W50 was getting past my seals. It only stays in the car for 2,5K to 3K anyway. I am sticking to 10w? from now on as it is the lower number written on the cover.
SkyJawa
Magnatec is semi-synth, I use it in the Pug.....
Digsy
I think this is the same stuff my local Toyota dealers use.
