supRo
Hi, Since yesterday, The starter motor behaves as if the battery is weak/flat. It sounds like it's struggling to turn. The Battery and Alternator have been tested and they are ok. Still takes the same 1 or 2 seconds to start the engine from turning the key and engine starts without problems. Could it possibly be the leads corroded (haven't looked yet) or likely to be the starter motor contacts? Thanks, Ro
Lazarus
I believe the symptoms for the starter motor contacts is the engine won't turn over and all you hear is the solenoid clicking, my bet would be bad battery or weak connections. HTH:)
supRo
Thanks, Laz and the others who PM'd me. It's not doing the clicks and just now it started just fine. I'm suspecting it's the battery terminals as they have oxidized before although the symptoms were different - Before I was getting intermittent power cuts to the electrical accessories such as the stereo and boost gauge. I'll try cleaning up the battery terminals at the weekend
supRo
Just in case anyone reads this and has the same problem... It did turn out to be the battery terminals. I cleaned them up (clamps too) and then sprayed some battery terminal protector stuff on it. The Car starts like a dream now!
