Mike
So finally made it on to XBox Live... better late than never eh? Had a quick blast on Burnout Revenge (and kicked arse! I impressed myself there!).. Tried 'Need For Speed Underground 2', but apparently no-one plays that..?? Also put Halo 2 on but couldn't play as I don't have the right maps? then spend the best part of an hour downloading the on-line content, but still no joy.. I think I have one left to download... but does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? I'm off out at dinner time to grab a copy of PGR2 - never been a big fan of this, but on-line racing sounds like a plan, so I'll bury my prejudice (I prefer GT4 by a mile!)... Any other games I should check out? I have loads of other games I'm going to have to dig out to see what the Live stuff is on them... erm, my gamertag is 'SupraSonicUK', predictably... so look me up.. or something... also haven't tried the 'chat' thing yet, for fear of being implicating in some kind of Gary Glitter style court case.... do people do that? I was just going to "let my skills do the talking".. but will I be labeled a weirdo in the 'live community'? Advice please lads & lasses.... Ark
I got onto xbox 1 live and couple of months ago - got bored very quickly. PGR2 is class, live Forza motorsport is quite good, but appears to be heavily populated with tuning geeks, so my cars which are modified by simply buying all the most expensive parts, are well out-classed. Halo2 is full of little american children swearing and thinking they are cool. Nobody ever runs around, if they can possibly jump everywhere, which makes it f'ing impossible to shoot anyone. NFSU2 seems to be empty... My gamertag is SleepyArk - see you sometime on PGR2
Mike
nice one mate... I'll look you up... think Edd_T is a bit of a XBox PGR2 fan too... we should organise a games night when he's 'back from the slopes'... I just feel like I need a 360 even more now..! penguin
is it possible to play online with "evaluation" versions of games ??? assuming you have a modified box
Snooze
'fraid not, Penguin. The Live stuff checks for chipped boxes. If you have a switchable chip, you can turn it off to play on Live but then, of course, you have to have a proper copy of the game. "A friend of mine" had a chipped box and accidentaly connected up to Live with the chip active once. The Live system immediately removed his account, and he was unable to use Live again even with the chip deactivated. Some of the early games (original Halo included, I believe), which could be played by link-up, can be played online without a Live account by connecting directly to other boxes, I believe, though I have never tried this. I think this is the reason why they stopped providing link-up functionality in games.
Mike
update... so just got PGR2 and Splinter Cell 'Chaos Theory' (this is the third one, right? - hopefully... I have the other two..).. so I'll be out racing later on I think... ..oh, and probably most of tomorrow...
