RobSheffield
i have a problem with my pooter. videos seem to stop displaying, although i can hear the sound. as you can imagine this is an annoyance on certain specialist videos i think it may be a Virus, and since i deleted Norton (big steamy pile of poo) i could do with a decent free virus hunter and deal wither

Jezz
Ad-Aware se personal is good for deleting files containing worms and adware, spyware etc. Just do a search and you'l find a freeware version somewhere. You'l be shocked the first time it runs a scan!
Ulrik
Best Protection for your Computer overall is: Firewall: ZoneAlarm Pro 6.1.737.000 Antivirus: NOD32 2.5 Much better then Norton and Panda

carl0s
NOD32 is indeed exceptionally good. I have it running like clockwork on many many computers. The only reason I don't have it on mine here is that I wanted to do a long term test of Avast for when I'm sending computers out to strangers, and that seems pretty good too, but not as unobtrusive as NOD. zonealarm though... Willson
Is it sorted ? Sounds more like a video codec issue than a virus ?
Underworld
Yea sounded to me to be a Program bug/Codec being dodgy.

VIL
Not wanting to tout business but free security software has its limitations. The thing to think about is if its free how much time, money and resourse can they put into the product? Remember `youre only as good as your last update`!!! We (McAfee Security) spend millons per yer in R&D to keep one step ahead of the unpleasant things out there and unfortunately is a never ending cycle. Its also worth bearing in mind that anti-virus solutions alone are now only part of the puzzle. Really you need a good AV, spyware solution, desktop firewall (& possibly anti-spam solution depending on how you use e-mail) if you want to try and keep your machine as clean as possible. I would seriously look at investing in a trusted & industry proven security solution if you value any information on your machine or use it for internet purchases, on-line banking etc... VIL
Supra-Dupra, with all due respect how do you know! If all you have used is this product how can you be sure its catching everything? Just because it has not found anything does not mean there is nothing there! Just because your machine still runs does not mean there is no spyware running in the background! What the eye does not see the heart does not grieve over!

I would have to disagree on the desktop firewall point. As long as the antimalware is doing its job, why do we need yet another layer of applications running to warn of every outbound connection? netstat -n -a is good enough should there be suspicion, and Windows XPs NAT-style firewall (block anything which is not a response to a legitimate request) is more than good enough, and also unobstrusive and not resource hungry (unlike the 'Internet Security Suites'). Just my feelings anyway.
