merckx
NGK BKR7E (6097) work perfectly on a BPU car, gapped at 0.8mm Only about £11 for 6 . Why buy anything more expensive if these work?
mr keef
Thankyou lads!
tbourner
BCPR7ES will be better if your coil packs are tired though. I gapped mine to 0.75mm I think.

mr keef
Yup that's what I use. BKR7E-VX Whats the VX mate? also whats with the numbers people put after the main BKR7E some people say BKR7E-6097?
carl0s
6097 is a specific like model number, so in theory is all you need to go and buy them. The VX means fine-tipped platinum I think.
carl0s
The BKR7EVX come ready to drop in on the BPU car. (I think.. that's what I've been doing for the last couple of years anyway!)
Ian C
I'd stick to NGKs to start with, they are good and they are cheap, a rare thing in this universe Get platty's or even better iridiums once you are sure the fuelling is right and it doesn't have any det. They last a lot longer, can't say anything else about them that makes them 'better' than NGKS though. -Ian
Alex
No YUK! IX Irridium's if you must use the NGK's. WTF??? There is NOTHING wrong with using the BKR7E's on BPU. My T61 was very happy on them too... There is no need to use iridium's unless you're desperate not to change plugs that often....and the coppers are a damned site cheaper. I've done a huge FAQ on spark plugs HERE which is a bit more informative than "No Yuk". FWIW, I personally wouldn't use Platinum's on anything over stock. JohnA
Aye, NGK all the way. No scare stories of their iridiums losing the tips either. (that I know of) As for the plug gaps, it depends on the quality of combustion under boost. I run stock gaps and have never had a misfire even at silly boost. Others need to close the gaps from 1 bar upwards.
mr keef
I think i'll go with the ngk on a 0.8m seems to be a good starting point
Jonny5
Out for a blast last night and anything over about 0.9 bar of boost, a misfire developed from 4.5Krpm onwards.. I too have read the FAQ (thanx Alex) and have concluded it may well be the spark plugs to blame. I've just been out and bought a set of NGK BKR7E - 11 for the cheap sum of £11 squids... Gonna fit them at work today, so I'll let you know if it's cured my misfire.. If not I might be on coil pack duty lol.. cheers Jon
Alex
The -11 is the gap they are set to out of the factory - 1.1mm - For a TT with mild mods I'd start at 0.9mm and test performance...if you get a missfire try 0.8 etc...
Jonny5
Ok will do, thanks for that Alex.. cheers Jon..
