Jake
Evolutionary question.... WHY??? What's the point if nearly everyone has to have them pulled? This is interesting : Vestigial structures are structures of organisms in a species whose original function is considered to have been lost or reduced during evolution. Today, the list of human vestigial structures is still the same, although the list of useless vestigial organs is much smaller, and hotly debated. It still includes the appendix, and coccyx. Many people maintain that the coccyx is a remnant of a lost tail. Wisdom teeth are vestigial as well. The plica semilunaris, the small fold of tissue on the inside corner of the eye, is the vestigial remnant of the nictitating membrane (the third eyelid) in other animals. The formation of goosebumps in humans under stress is a vestigial reflex; its purpose in our evolutionary ancestors was to raise hair to make the animal appear bigger and scare off enemies, although they were more likely used to trap an insulating layer of warm air next to the skin. In whales and other cetaceans, one can find small vestigial leg bones deeply buried within the body; these are remnants of their land-living ancestors' legs. The wings of ostriches and emus are vestigial, remnants of their flying ancestors' wings. Pete
I always thought my coccyx was rather large and boney.
Guest chiefvinso
Maybe we used them for chomping on bones!!!! Wisdom teeth that is
Whitesupraboy2
Wisdom teeth were used for chewing up tougher food before we all grew into big babies. They are tougher teeth and would be used for heavy chewing. Bit like your canines are were used for ripping raw meat apart, useless to us today we just use a knife and fork

Ian C
I was quite surprised when he told me I already had them all. Gawd knows when that happened. It doesn't show, mate -Ian
Jake
It doesn't show, mate At first I thought you meant because you'd seen all my teeth when I was screaming my head off that time at TOTB3, eventually I realised you just meant that I'm stupid - so you must be right! Charlotte
I went to hospital today. Got to have bottom two out. They are weirdly angled so they are cutting through the nerve in my jaw and behind my tongue. Once I have them taken out (along with lots of bone surrounding them) there is a chance of permanent damage to my bottom lip and half my tongue and i may have problems with my other teeth in the future. Is it normal for this to happen? I was feeling ok about it but I’m now officially bricking it. What if I’m left with a permanent 'dumb' look?
