Evening all! I had a chat with a supra owner on the chat section earlier, he said I might be better bringing my question to the tech section, so here I am!! I've just bought my first mark 4, a n/a 1993 imported SZ manual, black, standard, nice car, it died on me twice last night but fired up again straight away and kept running, also it keeps showing me the engine warning light when driving, notmisfiring, sounds perfect, also after it cut out, the clock was set back to 12 and the trip meter had been cleared, seems as if the entire electrical system died. Anyone had this, seen this, heard about this/ Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Ive had the much older square ma61 shape supra many years ago, never experienced this though!!!! Please help!!!!!

Perhaps the immobiliser is interferring? If it has a bad electrical contact.

When I have a problem with a car, I always work back, to see what caused the problem.

So was the car OK prior to having the TOAD fitted? If so there is your problem.

Take your battery terminals off, and clean them.

Check the fuse box under the bonnet, next to the battery, and make sure all of the fuses are seated properly.

Spray WD40 on the electrical contacts as well, this damp weather will not be doing any favours to the japanese machinery.

Keep us posted, I am in HULL if you need any help?

No warning lights from the alternator, just had a cat 1 toad system fitted could, that make any odds?

It wouldn't explain your clock resetting itself.

I haven't got a clock in mine, would it reset itself only if you lost all power from the battery?

Problems with the engine warning light coming on aren't easily diagnosed without doing a diagnostic test, I think this is what I would look at first.

It's possible to do a diagnostic test yourself.
