toyo rob
Done as much as i can think of for 'easy' upgrades; http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=55, question now is; is the next step to install e-manage or similar, and upgrade the fuel system inc injectors??? Also what are the steps in upgrading the fuel system, i've read about FPR's, is there a concensus on which is most liked? And is it better to have a garage do it or is it a DIY able job? cheers Rob
Chris Wilson
I like the stock one! Why re-invent the wheel? The stock one should be good for a 500 BHP engine. My 700 BHP Skyline engine will use a stock rail and stock FPR. The HKS "upgraded" rail actually has a smaller internal bore than the stock steel rail... But the stock one isn't a funny purple anodized colour, and doesn't feature in too many Jap magazine photos, so it's probably junk, and will give me endless trouble
toyo rob
cheers chris, does the stock fuel system have a fpr? would it need replacing? i havent played with the fuel system so i dont know what im looking at or for? going to change the filter asap as im sure it overdue. rob
Chris Wilson
All fuel injected engines have a fuel pressure regulator, the Supra one is on the fuel rail. Personally I'd leave the rail, regulator and pulsation damper totally alone and just fit your bigger injectors. Others may disagree. Most aftermarket regulators of the adjustable kind tend to be junk. Bosch Motorsport make a decent one that I use and trust, but you really don't need one. terribleturner
That's intresting Chris, im just about to drop bigger injectors into my stock j-spec rail and was also going to change to a upgraded fuel filter and add a new fpr. Is there a problem when adding a new fpr to the stock one??
