jim_supra
Was thinking of getting a draper tool kit, it's by Draper NO SHIT! :D
dangerous brain
Buy a good ratchet and breaker bar and take the sockets from a cheap set. That is one sure fire way of rounding cheap car grade nut and bolt heads off which results in hours of drilling, cutting, easyouting etc etc. If anything I would say pay the most you can for sockets and even more for spanners. Try to follow the rule socket first then ring spanner then open ended spanner then at very last resort adjustable spanner. The halfords proffesional range is very good for a home enthusiast. I work on aircraft and my stuff takes a daily pounding so I have to go with snap on and the likes. That said to be fair the snap on ratchetts are crap and the only reason I'd have one of them is because the lifetime swap guarantee. If halfords pro has that guarantee as well then halfords pro is the way to go.
GeordieSteve
Not much on at the minute but if you live down south this police auction can have some cracking deals http://www.bumblebeeauctions.co.uk/XcAPViewInCat.asp?ID=

MONKEYmark
i got a halfords pro socket set and used loads of times.also bought lots of halfords pro spanners and breaker bars and ratchet spanners for tight areas.also little stubby ratchets for getting at back of turbos. they cheap enough and look well made. a mechanic down road has a massive snap on tool box full of tools.he reckons the toolbox alone was 6k. michael you doing lots of your own work now. michael
michael you doing lots of your own work now. No, it's too cold I'm hoping to do a bit more on the Supra soon but I'm also considering buying something else to tinker with, it's just handy to have everything nicely organised instead of having random tools in one box and all the stuff I use all the time scattered around the place... a cheap solution would be for me to just get more organised and tidy up but the stuff I have is fairly budget anyway so it would be nice to treat myself. I was chatting to a mate the other night and it turns out he has the Halfords one I'm after, he paid £99 for it in the sale just before Christmas. Soonto_HAS_soop
I just bought a 110 piece draper set from http://www.tooled-up.com (I think that is right) it was only £78 and is very good quality. Only downside is that it doesn't have any 1/2" in it, it is only 1/4" and 3/8". Came with free delivery as well, not bad as Draper RRP is over £130 + VAT Edited to say, search for part number 71401. michael
Sounds as though you are making yourself a nice outdoor nest there Mark, a few optics on the wall and a comfy chair and it will be a nice escape what other car you going to get.something small and cheap for track days. Not sure on the exact car as yet but I'd like a MK1 MR2 ideally - cheap to buy, cheap to fix, cheap to run... just rusty for the budget I have in mind. I just thought it's as cheap to buy an alternative car as it is to take the Supra to Elvington on a trackday once you factor in wear and fuel etc
