DaveMassie
Il be needing some new brakes in the near future and im thinking il stick the 4 pot calipers and discs on my j spec na. What apart from the discs and calipers will I need to upgrade my weedy na brakes to the 4 pots, or should they bolt straight on, (guessing not quite that easy) ;o) Thanks Dave

Ian W
unless you're going to be ragging the hell out of your car mate you could consider just getting a decent set of pads, new stock discs and some braided lines and new fluid. this will make the brakes a lot better in any case and is a lot cheaper than a UK conversion. DaveMassie
Thanks peeps, The main reason for wanting the uk brakes is il hopefully be going for a tt engine swap in the near future so id think the brakes would be a really sensible mod to do, but if i decide not to bother then some new discs and pads will suffice. Ian W
ahhhhhh, nuff said then mate. if you're going TT in the future then you may well want to consider it but as CW will tell you, unless you do a lot of heavy braking then you shouldn't notice that much of a difference between a good jspec setup and a uk setup. DaveMassie
If thats the case it would certainly save a few pennies!! any recommendations on discs (standard are good i presume) and pads? Cheers
Ian W
yup, i went with what CW recommended. a set of std discs, CW fast road pads and new Motul RBF600 fluid made a big difference. should be even better if you go with the braided lines which a few members have done i think. I don't really understand why having a TT engine in would make any difference either way Both cars use the same chassis, suspension, are 'similar' weights and are capable of fast road speeds. Having good brakes is one of the best performance mods you can do, personally upgrading to bigger spec brakes front AND rear would be the first mod I would do. I would spend the money on decent brakes first, before the engine swap. The larger brakes with good pads, brake fluid and braided lines are far superior to the smaller brake set up. Dave, I've supplied dozens of members with the larger brakes, as I can get very good prices. I have a price list of all the parts required for the upgrade, if you want a copy please email me at [email protected]
Ian W
of if you wanted to go the UK spec route then go with Nic....best price you'll find by a long way i think. (Nic you can pay me later )

lust2luv
But on the other hand, j-spec brakes will stop your car just as quickly as TT brakes. It's only really if you want to do track days or go for a _really_ spirited drive that TT brakes make sense.* * might be that if I ever find myself having to brake in a hurry from triple digits I reserve the right to change my opinion
