Justin
Running 17's and thinking 18's might be better. Thoughts?
Terminator
I think it works the other way you need more torque to move on a larger wheel. Or I may be talking rubbish
Bobbeh
Smaller wheel, with larger tyre wall, nice and wide tho
AJI
Yeah a larger tyre wall allows the initial start motion of the wheel to transfer the rim rotation to the tread rotation. It provides more area to flex and transmit the force to the ground in a less sudden manner. Proper top fuel dragsters use massively flexing tyre walls to perform the above. Otherwise to get more grip you lower the tyre pressure to give a larger contact patch with the ground. Usually larger rims won't make much difference if they are more or less the same weight - rolling radius stays nearly the same.
Steve W2
Yeah, if your like me and had to touch and play with the massive tyres on that dragster they ahd at POD you woud notice that they were at quite a low pressure and were very flexible. The commentator guy was mentioning about 4.5 to 5 psi for the dragster tyres.
Steve W2
I'm going up to the flame and thunder show in November to see it run. Will try and get some pics. AD500 - They must have been something silly like that. They also said it had 6000BHP!!
