Don't get me wrong, I really couldn't care less about the price (petrol is just stupid, anyway)

It's just what I feel the cars run best on

Griff = tesco99

Supra = Ultimate

If someone brought out 105 octane (the old 5 *) even if it was £1.20 a litre, I'd buy it, if it made the Supra run better.

At 10:1 CR the Griff wouldn't be able to take advantage of it without another set of pistons :D

...petrol is not just about an out and out ron figure its a very complex mix,

very true, that's why a spec sheet helps. It's a good starting point.

Quality control will always be questionable in forecourts, that's one of the advantages of race-fuel (you know that you get what you think you get)

Random test samples analysed by a third part are a good way to instill some confidence, and Tesco99 has got those too. Shell doesn't publish such things, so that raises questions into why do they not trust random samples from their fuel;)

Hopefully this attitude will change, someone posted a clear reference to '98RON' on their site, that is a good start.

sure they could have tested the ron figure before the engine test but why should they- me or you dont have that oportunity in the forecourt do we,

our ECU does.

Ask scooby people with KnockLink, sometimes they may leave a forecourt with the display lit up like a Xmas tree.

I've seen it myself on my previous car.

In any case I would always use a pinch of salt when it comes to 'tests' from interested parties.

(I'm not 18yr old anymore and know a thing or two about human nature:innocent: . I also know that I can't change the world.:D )
