Dash Rendar
Those MaxGT hooligans have made my car go really, really fast!! And it wont go straight anymore! As many of you may know, I've been having some substantial work on the car (all covered here). I've just completed running in the car after the engine head rebuild, and Paul has completed the final post-run-in work. I had no idea how much quicker the car would be, when I finally got to put my foot down. It's nothing short of hilarious. I picked the car up yesterday evening. Everytime I put my foot down on the motorway coming home, I couldn't help but laugh hysterically. Any onlookers would think I was mental. Turbo #2 is soooo strong now I just can't believe it. I had no idea that BPU on hybrids would be so different to the stock setup. I knew, of course, that it was quicker. But the difference is absolutely incredible. Last night I put my foot down at 80 leptons, and I kid you not, I was doing 120 in about 3 seconds. Does that sound realistic, because it scared the scrap out of me?! For anyone thinking about going BPU... Just do it! It's like having a whole new car. On steroids. And as for the raging single vs hybrids debate... I've always wanted hybrids and I'm now extremely pleased I stuck to my guns.

Gazboy
Salvador & Dash- how much all in were your hybrids?
Dash Rendar
Doug, I'm running 1.2 bar, although I think I saw the needle creep a little bit higher. I haven't yet taken the car out today to double check. As for cost, it's complicated since I had a lot of other work done at the same time. Ballpark figure would be 2K or just over for hybrids and fitting. P.S. I'll definately take you up on the that offer, Doug!!

Dash Rendar
No, that comes next. I'm hoping for 450 FWHP, but I have no idea of that's a realistic target. And before anyone asks: yes, I'll turn off the aircon first!
Gazboy
That's roughly the same figure as terribleturner's car I think with his stock turbo's. Did the superchip make any difference?
Dash Rendar
Did the superchip make any difference? I wouldn't know. It was in the car when I bought it. In fact, I heard people saying that you couldn't 'superchip' a Supra, so I started thinking that the seller had just been embellishing the modifications list to help with the sale. But then Paul actually found the superchip while fitting the FSE.

Dash Rendar
So this is why you want to go single... You just can't take the competition!! I don't think I want to push it any more mate. The car is already more than a match for me. I'm gonna spend a long time getting reaquainted.
Homer
Good the hear you're back on the road again Darren. I felt exactly the same after going BPU, it’s just a completely different animal. Throttle response is so much quicker, spool time is almost non-existent, and the 2nd turbo kick is such a great feeling! However after over 18 months of 'BPU', the power I once thought was far more than I needed now feels normal. So much so that I now get a little disappointed when planting it on the motorway. Once you cover 15K+ miles in it I bet you'll be feeling the same
Dash Rendar
Thanks Darryl. Throttle response is so much quicker, spool time is almost non-existent, and the 2nd turbo kick is such a great feeling! Yes, yes and yes! As you say, it's not just that it pulls much harder. It also pulls straight away, which makes a hell of a difference. I took it out for a quick spin this evening and along comes an M3. I pull him to the inside to let him pass, give him a few seconds to pull away and then gave chase. Reeled him in in no time at all... Which turned out to be just enough time to get from cruising speed up to 130 leptons. Hmmm, BPU. Everything is fair game!
