Paul
If it's a leak you are looking at stopping then not only change the main seal but the remote linkage seal above it too. This one is smaller and you can fit the new directly over the old so as to 'double up'. On mine we changed the main seal twice before realising that it was coming from the remote linkage seal and dripping down the casing to give the impression that the main output one was at fault. Paul Yup, Phoenix now change both even if only one seems to be leeking. Toyota only change the main one as standard
Bobbeh
Might be worth asking them to look at / do both if you take it to them.

Toyota only change the main one as standard Yeah, that was down to mine Mark had it back two or three times then he suggested the linkage seal (only thing left to do) and I saw info on Supraforums regarding this too. To his credit though he stuck with it and did the extra work FOC , in my opinion an honest bloke and a true gentlemen. Paul
HunterJ
I'm just getting the parts from Toyota, the guys at Dastek will be doing the work (I don't like getting my hands too dirty ) - I'll get them to check the remote linkage seal too. Thanks for the advise! Cheers Jamie
Paul
No probs. Don't just get them to check it though, replace it. Easy job to do with the prop shaft removed and the back of the box exposed for the main seal replacement. Tell them not to remove the old one, it's a bitch to do and could damage the smooth bore it sits in, better to put the new one in after it as there is plenty of room and it's just a straight bored hole with no ridge for seating the seal. Good luck. Paul
imi
anyone got the part number of the linkage seal how much are these seals from toyota? how long to change them?
Homer
Not sure on the part number, but they are very cheap. I think Phoenix charged 2 hours last time mine was changed - its not too complex but the prop has to come out.
