Bobbeh
Its going to be great when its complete, but as usual we're paying WAY over the odds for something thats can be built a lot cheaper as has been demonstrated... but as its Wembely, just stick the price up 400%! paul_y3k
does the company building it have financial penaltys for over run ?
Bill Prawn
does the company building it have financial penaltys for over run ? If they haven't then someone at the FA made a big mistake. Why would the builders hurry if there is no financial penalty (not a pun) for not meeting deadline? It's all a bit of a mess really but who's accountable?
colsoop
Why can everyother country do the job on budget and on time but here in Britian we can never get things done. I bet there isn't a clause in the contract for over runs, the taxpayer is the over run clause.
Ian R
The stadium in Germany with the retractable roof wasn't fininshed in time for confederations cup and was meant to be. Then when Brazil were playing the roof leaked and guess who did the roof. The English
jamesmark
being scottish we had the scottish parliment to pay for, it started with a budget to build it for appx £45 million give or take and yes out of tax payers money. and now the damn thing is open and is in the top ten of the ugliest buildings in britian and the bill that the taxpayers were faced with is a whopping £500 million (just under) now there was a big thing about this and a few resignations and they capped the price of it and said you have to get the job done on the money thats still left so they put a capping on expenses for it however what they did not cap was the archictects recomendations for design that has now put the bill to a nearly whopping £550 million. its sick what we have to pay for when the old assemble was good enough. my best mate worked for the scottish executive which was meant to govern the build and he told me that all tellys had to be lcd plasma with a minimum 26 inch screen, the chairs in the executive offices all cost over £800 each how many people can claim they sit on that kind of seat at work every day? i am sitting on a hard wooden one just now thats giving me piles, also that all desk were bought and then replaced and sold off cheap to allow new ones in as they went with the final decor better its disgusting why cant britian build things correctly i remember a quote in the film indepedence daywhen they found out about area 51 and the president bill pullman wondered were they got all the funding for something this secret and the jewish father said and its so true "you dont think it cost $100 for a hammer and a $1000 for a toilet seat" it makes you wonder

lust2luv
They better sort it I've got Bon Jovi tickets!!! Me too! Couldn't give a damn about the FA Cup... It was quite a decent bit of procurement actually, fixed price contract, so all the budget overruns are being swallowed by the construction company, and a £120,000 a day penalty for late delivery. And if you look on the Wembley website, the construction costs compare favourably with other similarly sized stadiums built around the world (not that there are *any* undercover stadiums as big as the new Wembley). Rayman
I think its been delayed on a purpose, the workers have been placing bets on Betfair on whether wembly will be ready for cup final or not! Theyve obviously been backing it not to be ready and have delayed it! Looking at the plans etc its going to be superb when its finished! merckx
Apparently workman with hard hats and large boots were going into the betting shop which was around the corner and placing bets that it wouldn't open in time for the FA cup final. A failsafe bet if they had anything to do with it I would think.
