Has anyone yet managed to get a decent base map for the AEM ecu?

I've been looking into uprating the fuelling and timing maps on my soon to be 6 speed but currently auto supra (As many of you well know), and have looked at a number of options and it seems the one and only comprehensive solution is the AEM ecu.

There appear to be hundreds of solutions to controlling the fuelling, but none other than the ITC (Which is like rocking horse ....) for controlling the timing.

The power fc can control some aspects, but is difficult to setup comprehensively because the commander only lets you into half the commands, and I've been told not many people have the software to set the thing up properly.

So that pretty much leaves a pre-programmed shot in the dark ecu like the mines or blitz ones or a re-programmable like the AEM or Motec ecu's.

However there doesn't seem to be a decent base map for AEM available for a Jap spec running on UK fuel with stock twins.

So where the hell do I look next? People keep asking me what my power goals are, but the thing is I don't really know. Whatever I get I want it to be future proof, which I guess really only leaves the AEM.

What do you all think?

 

Sorry to keep going to about this, but the I'll soon have the parts to do my conversion and I'd prefere to get it all sorted in one go.

Your setup is basically the same as a US/UK car which has had the MAF replaced with a MAP sensor, which is what 99% of AEM users do anyway. I would highly recommend a visit to the excellent AEM forum at aempower.com, lots of maps floating about. Most of them are for single turbo cars but you should be able to get some input.

I am running an AEM in my J-Spec but I still have 440cc injectors so I needed to remap the fuel but the base comes setup for 550cc injectors already.

 

The base map also doesn`t have the boost setup to be on the safe side so when you first install it you will be running the actuator spring pressure.

 

If you want to go above 1 BAR then some form of ignition mod, CDI or DLI is required as the AEM also converts the ignition from direct fire to waisted spark.

 

Apart from that I am very happy with mine and have pretty much got it sorted now, just fine tuning to complete.

PS make sure you run the latest version 1.03, the older versions did have lots of problems which appear to have been fixed.

What about the GReddy Emanage? That will do fueling (by fiddling the pressure signal as with the SAFC, and/or by intercepting the individual injector signals) and timing as well. You have to buy the relevant cable harnesses and software as well, which will cost you about $450USD from here.

 

(I haven't got one or anything, was just reading about it the other day)

I have one sitting in my garage. The works, software, e-manage, ITC cable, boost pressure sensor & cable.

What did you make of it? Just for future interest really - looked like a decent bit of kit to me given that it can do fueling and timing, but then I know nothing about these things! :baa: I'm developing this very worrying interest in more serious upgrades as it gets nearer remortgage time... :flame Dev

Exactly my point about being future proof. I don't want to pay out for a greddy e-manage and then in two years time have to pay out for something else. Might as well get the something else now.
