Lewis
I have a set of TRD Hids on their way but without bulbs, I wanted to know, is it just the bulbs that are different (i.e I can get whatever bulbs I want) or are the power units rated to only support a certain K of bulb? (on a sidenote - best place to order HID bulbs?) Also, are they OK to be behind plastic headlights? Cheers
Jake
If you're worried about heat and plastic lenses, don't be. HIDs run quite a lot cooler than filament bulbs.
Lewis
Really? Cool, thanks Jake, any ideas on the other stuff?
Jake
Well, the Kelvin rating is a measure of the colour of light the HID produces. I can't imagine it makes any difference to which balasts are used - but I'm not 100% on that. There was a thread about replacement HID bulbs, I'll see if I can find it. Nic
http://www.trdparts.jp/parts_hid-h4.html The TRD HID kits are very expensive and I seem to remember that they are only compatible with the TRD bulb kit, that is sold separately. I may be wrong though, but will double check with my supplier tomorrow IYW.
Lewis
cheers nic, I already have the HID kit it's just the bulbs I need so would rather avoid paying for TRD ones if I can.

Nic
I've checked with my supplier and he thinks (still not 100% sure though) the HID bulbs are specific to the TRD kit. Here are some pics, I don't have a set here, so can not check the fit with other bulbs that I can source here. Your best bet is probably to test fit some of the bulbs that you can find there, to see if you can find ones that are compatible. If you get stuck give me a shout and I'll try to get you a good deal on a set of new TRD HID bulbs.
