afennell
I have just received some 550cc injectors just removed from a uk spec supra. I have heard i should get them flow tested and clened before fitting them, is this correct? Thanks
Alex
Yes it is correct....imagine if one is partially blocked and the others are fine...you see a nice AFR on your gauge thanks to the other 5 but that one running lean will blow that piston up through detonation. New engine or pay for them to be tested and cleaned??
Chris Wilson
Always good policy for NEW, vital for used! I can do them at 12 quid each plus return postage of 8.50 (insured).

Alex
All I'll add is that it's no good getting it done and then leaving the injectors on the shelf again...do it just before you use them.
afennell
Thanks chaps, so its a big have to do even if they have just come out of a car working fine. mikeyb10supra
Alex, can they become clogged during useage, ie my stock ones which have never been removed?? is there any way of telling if they become blocked apart from the inevitable bang?? Mikey There is no real way of telling no...but that's why I'd use optimax or Texaco SUL as they are the best at cleaning. The Tesco's stuff is more powerful but has no advanced cleaning agents. _Rob_
interesting thread.. so is it reccomended to have the injectors cleaned at a certain interval?? say 100k miles?
JohnA
If you're looking for cleaning agents you can do no better that STP "Total System Cleaner". It comes in a silver bottle and Halfrauds sell it for £15odd (more expensive than the usual tat) It is the business, got the Chevron patented concetrate and if your injectors are clogged or you have lots of carbon deposits, you can feel the difference within 20-30miles. I kid you not. When CostCo brought sets of two-for-one I got SIX for myself, that's how well it works. Of course if you've got the injectors already out, then send them to Chris , his price is *half* what I had to pay locally for ultrasonic cleaning.
