Supragal
Some of you might have seen a post a while ago saying that my whole house is artexed top to bottom except for the extension and the kitchen... well, decided to put some new units in the kitchen as theres a whole wall not being used really but this involves removing a display cabinet and moving some wall units down etc etc. So, last night, plan was, take down units, paint the red wall white (as an undercoat) tonight we were going to remove the tiles and make that bit good then paint it all, new units up, job done. Anyway, turns out the lazy monkies that installed the kitchen, plastered AROUND the units... so behind them is... yes... you guessed it... artex. Seriously, it must have been more of a PITA to plaster around the units, worktop, plug sockets etc than to do a whole wall... So now the plan for tonight is to plaster 2 walls. Brilliant. For your amusement some before and "current" pictures. Sorry about the rubbish "I took this on my phone" quality.

Ceptik
Corner-cutting, money-saving cowboys!! Shocking. Why oh why would you plaster AROUND a cabinet?! We'll just never know. Hope its gets sorted though Rosie
Supragal
I was pretty close to putting it all back last night haha. I'm figuring that as there will be units covering most of it, if the plastering isn't top notch it won't matter much... and to be fair, the bits that are already plastered aren't exactly good to say the least... Ian R
I know how you feel just about sorted in my house four years down the line every time I went to do something I ended up with problem after problem
Rob
Our kitchen was like that, with a deep wavy artex pattern that went around the units, even around the deep coving on the top. I couldn't afford to re-plaster so had to plan the kitchen around covering the artex "detail-work" Artex should be banned in the same way as Asbestos, not because it's dangerous to health, but it just looks shit and allows builders to cover up shoddy work. MARTIN R
Artex!!!, the people that owned the house before us loved it. we had pink and blue painted artex in one room. Reckon our house could of featured on DIY SOS before we had it.
