_Rob_
hey, my power steering pumps been squeeking for a while now. it only does it while the car is cold. i squirted a little WD40 down the pulley shaft towards the pump and this solved it for a couple of days, however its returned. it seems to have got louder than when i first noticed it, also. is this anything serious? power steering pump on its way out? or is it just a bearing? can the bearings be replaced? it doesnt make a difference to the sound if the steering wheel is turned. thanks! supRo
Sounds like the bearing which can be replaced. There's an overhaul kit and bearing that you can get for it. Best to have it taken apart and looked at....Ian C has done a nice guide... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=45109 Edit to say: make sure that once repaired, replace the fluid with new fluid and clean out the PS fluid reservoir and the filter gauze inside it. Chris Wilson
I will have rebuilt exchange PAs pumps available VERY shortly. The exchange unit will need to be serviceable for rebuilding, in so far as ONLY bearing and seal wear has occured, if the rotor assembly is damaged, or the shaft or casing is knackered, there can be no exchange and your only option is a new, or known good used pump. My pumps will be circa 110 quid exchange.

Chris Wilson
Just seen this thread revival, I can now replace the rotors and shafts, only housing damage makes them irreparable. Extra for shaft and rotor replacement though!
