Guest Mmark
Hi, I am looking at possibly buying a supra in the next week or 2 if one comes up that is right. I have a budget of only £8k - do you think this is going to be enough to get a decent example of a twin turbo? I will be using the car for a 20 mile daily commute so it would need to be pretty reliable. Sorry if you have heard this before, just wanting to hear your opinions on the reliability of a 10 year old supra on that budget. My other options that I was looking at were a scooby, but dislike the helicopter noise from the zorst, or a celica 190. cheers, Mark
hadyn
You'll get a good auto for 8 grand mate Supras are very reliable. I put 25k on my 1993 60k example in a year and it hasnt let me down once. That year included a lot of drag racing down the strip too
Guest Mmark
good to hear! what do you find your insurance like? Ive got a quote for £1208 from admiral for 10 months, 22 1yr ncb on an import. Was very suprised and happy with that!
merckx
Yes, you should get a decent car for that. But like Hadyn said, more likely an auto as the manual cars are rarer and a little more expensive. Definately a buyers market at the moment, there's been loads of cars coming up for sale on here and they aren't selling particularly quickly so the prices are dropping. Guest Mmark
That is a very good deal, but I am looking for a more complete car, with different alloys and interior changes maybe.. I can now spend up to £11k after moving some stuff around for the right car. Apart from on here, where else is a good place to be looking? I have big reservations about autotrader after ending up with hidden problem from my last 2 cars brought from there. One from an owners club member would be ideal as I know how most of you treat your cars

There are some others about, I know Paul Whiffin gets a lot of nice Supras in with decent alloys etc.
Guest Mmark
I have thought about that, but at the moment I am hopeful of ifnding a nice example ready done. Can I ask your opinion of the white uk spec on the whifbitz site? I have had powerful FWD cars before, but is 455 a bit much for a first supra owner? and modified like that, does the milage matter more than on a normal supra engine? cheers
