Soonto_HAS_soop
UK brakes - again!! If I wanted to upgrade to UK specd brakes, would I need anything else other than the caliper, pads and disks? Ben..
Patrick_Devlin
Wheels to fit them under
Soonto_HAS_soop
Wheels aren't a problem, as I have 18" already, just hate the crappy J Spec brakes. As long as I don't need anymore of the leg or any brackets, I may go for the ones that I've been offered. Ben..
Steve Cargill
It's not just the diameter, it's the offsets, spoke clearance and location of the air valve you have to consider. I think there are some 18" wheels (didn't Alex have them) that won't fit UK brakes. Best way to check is to put your wheels on a car with UK brakes and carefully spin them round. Then you'll know for sure. To updgrade, so a search. It has been discussed a number of times. Think about doing a full fluid change and possibly braided hoses whilst you are at it. Patrick_Devlin
Didnt mean to be flippant Ben, but Steve has expanded nicely on what I wanted to say!
Soonto_HAS_soop
I'm sure my wheels are ok, as a few other people on here have the same wheels with no problems. Ben..
eyefi
shims and clips, commonly known as a fixing kit. the part number is in here if u do a search. wheels r the biggest problem, offset is no guarantee of caliper clearance. test first
Steve W
most (all?) part numbers........... (prices roughly right, but, double check ! !) FatS.
dude
Anyone know how much gap is required between j-spec calipers and the wheel to be sure uk calipers will fit ???? Dude:flame Dev
eyefi
its not only the distance but how far out it is. ive got the measurements somewhere but cant find em at the moment (i think its at work). the best bet is to test yr wheel on a car with uk brakes. dude
Eyefi thats what i meant , i can measure the gap between the spokes and the j-spec calipers .I cant get a jack under mine easily but i have quite a gap , Paul E said it was plenty but he says that 3" is really 8" (according to his missus) so we cant trust him. :p Dude:flame Dev
Ibrar Jabbar
Dude, you will need a gap of approx 45mm between hub face and wheel spoke to clear UK brakes, assuming the spokes are flat.

Soonto_HAS_soop
Bit of a dead end this thread really, had then offered from a scrappie for £75 each, took me 4 hours to decide if I wanted them or not, and then when I phoned them up, they had sold them. Buggar, oh well, I suppose I may as well go for the Walbro and FSE combo that's on offer on here instead. Ben..
