Lewis
Yeah, even in a NA you can get the back out before 1600 RPM (2nd Gear) in the wet! (I know, my RLTC data logger told me so). You running RLTC with the additional sensors fitted or do you have ABS?
paulmann
Just last week in my NA I nearly had a problem. Straight road. Slightly damp. Shit tyres on rear (Maxis!). Car in front only doing 40 I wanted to go faster. Popped from 4th to 2nd pulled out and put the foot down and wahey out she swang both ways until it snapped into line and i was off. I think I scared the driver infront more than myself. I know it was driver error, I should have pulled out, got balanced then floored it, but I pulled out and floored it at the same time. I am used to driving my previous car still (Celica GT4), where the 4wd makes it like driving with stabilisers. BUT I have had no understeer in the supra yet (hopefully never) but the celica had loads!
lust2luv
Not long after I got mine, I still had shit tyres on the rear still, but had replaced the fronts with Eagle F1s. Really greasy road conditions in the summer, when it rained after a long drought, Entered a roundabout by an industrial estate that I knew to be slippy at around 15mph, going 270 degrees round to the right, foot completely off the accelerator all the way round the roundabout and the back still swung round on me. Needless to say, I didn't wait until the rears had worn down before I changed them. One of the biggest problems in the NA is when you start up from cold the revs can run at 2,000 RPM for the first few minutes of driving - that can be enough for the back end to come out on icy or greasy roads without even touching the accelerator - the only thing you can do about that is sit and wait for the revs to drop before driving off. Makes driving in queues difficult too, you've got to creep along with the brake on like you're driving an auto.
Guest mentalfx
I've had the back end snake a few times but knew it was gonna happen everytime. Each time it was controllable and because I was experimenting with a bit more power until it goes. Great buzz everytime!
attilauk
You dont get average cars jumping off the road like the Supra seems too therefore IMO its not the drivers fault. of course you do! people lose control of their cars all the time, it doesn't matter if you are driving a Daewoo Matiz or a Mclaren F1 if you hit a patch of diesel on a wet road and you aren't expecting it it can cause you to lose control... the problem with the supra is it feels really planted all the time so a sudden loss of traction can really take you by supprise
dangerous brain
My N/A caught me out in the first 3 weeks of owning as well. Low speed about 20 ish mph maybe a touch more coming off a dual carraigeway rbout next to a renault laguna (wasn't toeing it and he was going faster than me if anything) in the moist (not dry but not p*ssing down) Accelerated and again not foot flat but obviously enough to kick it down a gear. Back end snapped round 90 degrees before I knew what was going on. I was looking through my windscreen into the side window of the laguna. Foot off gas pedal she straightened up and off we went. My passenger at the time looked at me and said why did you do that? He thought I had deliberately oversteered it as he couldn't beleive the back end did that at such a slow speed. He still doesn't beleive that i wasn't f*ckin about.
bromy
Yes it has;) always as winter approaches and lasts until March! and its usually people who have not owned RWD cars very long, its just a case of getting used to the driving style, although we can all get caught out by a bit of ice or diesel! Got to agree with this, mine now has quite a bit more power and no traction control whatsoever, you have to respect the car, road and weather conditions
Lee S
twitching all the time last sat doing 90 on dual carr kick down came in back end dancing all over place very scary as didnt expect that:shock:

Adam
Mine stepped out on me at 60 going round a left hand corner racing a beama. Scared the crap out of me. But must have looked good. So easy to make it step when you want. But get caught out and its game over
Ark
Get yourselves on a driver training day in your own cars - it's amazing what you'll learn about the car and yourselves, and what you can do to get the car out of shape, and how to get it back. Oh yeah, and how many times you can get it to spin exactly the opposite way to what you were expecting!
weinelm
You running RLTC with the additional sensors fitted or do you have ABS? The car doesn't have ABS. I've changed the front hubs for ABS ones and I'm taking the rear signal from the speedo sensor (effectively prop shaft speed). I've set up the system in '3 Sensor mode'. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=41464&highlight=RLTC+ABS It works really well and is actually quite easy to do. I'll probably add rear ABS hubs, ABS drive shafts and change to the '4 sensor mode' at some point in the future though, as you do get a bit of unwanted cut on really tight corners in WET mode. It can't really be dialed out on the three sensor set up without affecting other areas of the traction control.
