A paint surface problem

I am about to remove the badge on the boot (Toyota center one) and replace it with a standard one as I don't like the bling bling gold badge the last owner put on.

By the looks of it the last owner didn't take much care taking the first badge off as inside the badge, between the T pattern, the paint has been touched up with a brush and you can see the brush marks.

So...Any ideas how I can smooth the brush strokes out? I am thinking maybe I can sand it out and respray while the badge is off, as it is only inside the oval of the badge. Or maybe there is something I can polish it with? white spirits or thinners maybe?

Any ideas would be good.

yeah watch it or you'll go back to the undercoat :taped: done that one before...

I used professional T Cut 2k rubbing compound. It's mean for that kinda thing and it's not overly harsh...

Can I blag the gold badge off of y'all? I've got a grey one you can have if you want?
