lambertpig
im sure everybody has seen the jap spec 500bhp tuned supra on ebay(maw motors) with fully built motor. has anybody seen or know of this motor it was on my list of motors before i bought my uk tt(a bit less money and im well pleased). but i cant keep from thinking it might have been a good buy as ive now got into this modding bit(or is all the fun in adding the bits and felling your beast come to life?) also if its as good as it sounds i would have thought at 10k it would have gone it was really a bit far for me to go 500 mile round trip, i have been dissapointed too many trips before
JamieP
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUPRA-Twin-Turbo-1996-500-BHP-of-Pure-power_W0QQitemZ4609981788QQcategoryZ18290QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem i like the bit where he says capable of 750bhp with just a boost upgrade:rlol:
Muffleman
This has been for sale for AGES. Doesn't mean it's not a nice car, but it's not exactly been snapped up either.
terribleturner
Abbey wanted to push it up to 750bhp?? On the stock autobox?? Shouldn't they know better??
Nic
It's running hybrids at 1.5bar at 500hp and it still has the first cat in place, that is going to generate some serious heat.
SimonB
Hmmm, 400 at the wheels and they're saying 500 at the crank? That's some transmission loss!
letmeshowyou
perfectly reasonable for an auto I would have thought tho?
Lucifer
Yes about right for the Stock Auto.
Alex
I don't believe the power figures for a second...
Lucifer
Im sceptical on stock twins.... but there again it could have been a one off run. There is alot of difference between 500bhp and 500bhp that is still 500bhp (or even runs) after 20k miles.....
letmeshowyou
it's not on stock twins tho
lambertpig
i think the power figure is poss, they claim abbey dyno sheets to prove but has anybody seen the car?
Homer
i think the power figure is poss Based on what exactly? Abbey have a dynpack don't they? teehee 500bhp (430rwhp at REALISTIC drivetrain losses) on just hybrids and BPU mods is ridiculous. On race fuel it maybe possible, but that car has the stock ECU so no feckin chance.
lambertpig
on the fact that abbey are quite reputable and the vendor has 2k of bills from them including dyno sheets. plus shouldnt a built motor on hybrids fmic running 1.5 bar make almost 500bhp even if not for long?
Homer
They use a Dynapack so its not exactly comparable to 'real' dyno's. Also 500bhp from 1.5bar on pump fuel = no chance with hybrid's. You'll need to be ditching the stock manifold and turbo gear to achieve that. Even very well specked small singles will struggle to achieve much more than that. Edited to add - Abbey aren’t exactly "reputable" when it comes to tuning Supra's...
