RedM
The thread title says it all really. Basically, I'm pretty happy with the power I'd just like it to arrive a bit quicker. I have a stock exhaust at present and I'm guessing that getting a real mans exhaust would help a bit but what else can I do? I don't want to spend thousands and I'd like the response/power increase/whatever to be available in normal driving speed ranges, not when I'm already risking a tug from the police. So, presuming that what I'm asking makes sense, any ideas?
dangerous brain
Boost controller that can up the gain (the speed at which the turbo's will spool) will help. A decat will help as well as the turbo's can spool easier as will the new exhaust. Beware to get a restrictor ring to prevent overboost though and an FCD to allow boost over 1 bar. RedM
That sounds like the rocky road to BPU. Am I right?
dangerous brain
It is yes. But its the only way ahead for improved throttle response. Decat and a 1 bar restrictor ring might help on its own.

Nic
Martin have you been in a BPU Supra? If not try to, you'll be suprised just how much difference a free flowing exhaust will make it really is a different car ie. much faster spooling, better response and more torque/power. TLicense
Well OK, there may be a few other mods required to support it....not impossible though! OK,OK I didn't read the first post carefully enough.

Mr. Canny took me for aride in his. It just made me laugh like a loon and then I bought a Supra. Not had a chance to drive one though.

See if you can blag a drive or a ride, you will notice a big difference between a well set up BPU Supra and stock. The performance gains versus cost are huge, very few cars you can spend a few hundred quid on and get such big gains.
RedM
So Nic, you are saying that a new exhaust will provide the cheapest performance gain?
Nic
So Nic, you are saying that a new exhaust will provide the cheapest performance gain? A free flowing exhaust will give you some gains, the real gains to be had though are after fitting decat pipes/restrictor ring and supporting parts. I'd fit the decat pipes, FCD, cooler grade plugs and boost gauge first, set up at 1-1.1bar. This will give you around 40-50hp extra, but more significantly the turbos will spool up quicker and the car will feel more responsive. A huge gain for a relative small outlay. A performance exhaust will help too but I would fit that after if funds are tight.
dangerous brain
If you want to do it on the cheap keep an eye out on here as decat pipes and second hand exhausts do come available quite regularly and will set you back half of what new parts will. FCD's and stuff get new obviously but for less than £2k you can push a 320 bhp car easily towards 370-380 bhp maybe a bit more.
