It was not an oil line as I had just guessed it was that, all I knew is it was an oil related fire. Apparently at least one piston failed which provided sufficient crankcase pressure to overcome the breather system, which in turn sprayed oil over a glowing hot turbo and manifold with catastrophic consequences.

Thanks again for the commiserations everyone. I am feeling happy yet sad at the same time.

What boost were you runningher at ? :drown:

1.5 bar ... I ran that when I had the GT3040 on with no problems... The GT4067 does not even start breaking a sweat until after 1.4bar, I guess it was too much for the motor with the larger turbo...

All part of the risks you take when you push the envelope, I always had/have it in the back of my mind that it could end in tears. Life goes on though, you only live once, best to make the most of it while you can. :)
