Valentine plans - what to do?

Pete

Recommended Posts

I'd like to do something nice this year for a change for valentines day.

Last year we didn't even buy each other cards. We've been together 12 years or so (yes I really should know and I expect Vicki knows to the minute), neither of us are into the marketing hype that is Valentines day.

I don't want to spend a fortune going to some fancy restaurant where everyone else is doing the same, complaining about the tables too close together, that prawn cocktails should never cost £9.99 and no I wouldn't rather be sat with the blonde. (Although I quite fancy the waitress...)

I'd just like to do or give something that she'll think is so very thoughtful and prove I still have some romance in me.....somewhere.

Any ideas guys?

(I'm skint having already just spent all my spare dosh on my true love.... RLTC, Set of tyres, some paint work ;) )

Never heard of it. Some kind of boutique?

She's got so many clothes that I've had to reduce my own wardrobe space by 1/3 AGAIN.

I'd buy her a new wardrobe but I think three would be too much...and there's no room left.

Depends on the chick, but I would suggest... basing this on reactions from female friends over the years... make her something, make her a card instead of buying one, cook her dinner is a bit obvious BUT I don't think it will ever be the wrong thing to do... how about making her a heart shaped cake for dessert... I can supply a delicious recipie for you :D

Isn't the thought supposed to be yours though?! :badidea:

:looney:

The key words are "that she'll think is so very thoughtful".

Truth is I'm useless at this stuff.

I like the card idea. I'll do that for sure.

I make dinner 90% of the time anyway...I'll probably end up doing that.

We don't really 'do' valentines day. Think its just a way of making single people depressed.

Having said that i just asked Mike if we were doing anything following on from this thread and he said 'when is it?' so i'll take that as a no then!

thoughts, good meal that you have prepared always goes down well but you cook anyway don't you?

I saw some heart shaped saucepans aswell which could be good for breakfast in bed maybe??

Tell her that in these days of equal rights for women that she has to organise it, she has to pay, she has to drive and she has to sleep in the wet spot.

That'll do it would say

This is the problem with men isn't it? Made up days like this are meant to be all about sentiment and feeling but actually every bloke in the world is thinkig "what can I do that is most likely to get me laid" and TOTALLY missing the point.

YOU ARE ALL OBSESSED.

I just find it hilarious, all I get is my femal mates whinging about their blokes, but, quite frankly the poor guy hasn't got a clue because the chick wants him to "just know" without being told, and there aren't many men who pay enough attention to know that.

we all know.......trust me.. with a minute of walking in the door.. we just choose to act dumb and make out we havent a clue. and then test later.

the problem is we test the water too often.
