Fuel chemistry

You need to be careful when using high mol weight (92)gases/liquids as there physical and chemical properties can change from state to state.

They are less compressable and react differently to tempertature. Toluene and Xylene and can give nasty emissions when burnt and damage the ozone layer:eek:

It also has a very high stoichiometric air requirment and could mess your fueling up to the point that its not worth using anyway.

Since it is comprised of 7 carbon atoms and 8 Hydrogen atoms (C7H8) you will also find that the lower explosive limit is 1.2% volume and may cause pre-ignition from radiant heat.

I don't know all of the other elements that compise petrol of race fuel for that matter, but do work for a combustion engineering company and thought I would add my 0.02c worth:)

Don't know if its any help but is something for you to think about.
