does anyone know a cheap, easy to use programme for editing video. Something with a few special effects etc??

I have tried the windows xp one which works well but wont let me add protected music to the shorts i created. Do other programmes allow this? Or is there a site for unprotected music that can be downloaded?

cheers for any help

Pinnacle Studio is a good easy to use editor... it has a number of special effects as standard and there is a downloadable keygen which can unlock the rest of the effects.

Next level up is Adobe Premier.... more of a professional tool with loads of user control... this bit of software requires a bit of learning as to how it works but once you know the basics you can get a very good result.

Both of the above allow you to insert your own sound files.

When you say 'protected music' what do you mean? Are you getting error messages when trying to insert MP3's into your current software?

If so then use "Windows sound recorder" and record the MP3 into AVI and then try inserting that.

i noticed a few pinacle programmes on ebay - will go bid on one

as for the music part...windows movie editor wont let me put copyrighted music on anything - not sure why - comes up with a message something like this music is copyrighted access denied...maybe its an inbuilt part to the programme

thanx

to get round the copyrighted music thingy.... try recording the MP3 (or whatever format music it is) into "windows sound recorder". Do you have any sound editing software such as "SoundForge" ?

Once it is recorded into "windows sound recorder" the likes of 'soundforge' can chop it down to the correct length etc. But this isn't too much of a problem because you can place the music start time on the video line within the video editing software.

But the main thing is that once you've got it in 'dound recorder' you can 'save as' and change the format to WAV.... this should slot into any movie editor just fine.
