VOIP, simple resume anywhere?

I fancy using this voice over IP stuff, but being a computer numpty I need some instructions for an idiot, for example, can I plug a normal analogue phone into my Netgear DG834 router, and if not, how do I connect a phone? How hard is it all to set up? Can I call abroad with it? Can people witha normal analogue phone ring me on it, if they do NOT have VOIP? Are there similar alternatives to VOIP? Cheers.

We have VoIP phones too. USB.

Yep - you need to run something like Skype and pay for a phone number to accept incoming calls to.

However, if you have a home ADSL connection with Nildram I had an email today (as a reseller of theirs) saying you get something like 500 minutes of free VoIP calls and line rental included in your normal ADSL connection.

Here it is - http://hometalk.nildram.net/

They also do a 9.99 scheme if you don't have ADSL from them.
