Guest GTO NEMESIS
Hi Supra Chaps, I have been researching the same thing over the last two weeks and decided to go with the GT42 but a speacial race version called the GT42RS which spools 750 rpm quicker. My blower arrived yesterday and is said to be the first GT42RS in europe (accoring to Honeywell Garrett anyway). Here are some pics for anyone who is thinking about going down this route. http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Marty6470/IMG_1.jpg http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Marty6470/IMG_2.jpg http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Marty6470/IMG_3.jpg http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Marty6470/img4.jpg http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Marty6470/IMG_5.jpg http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Marty6470/IMG_6.jpg http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Marty6470/IMG_7.jpg Thanks for all the info on blowers you guys have been using it has been very helpfull. I drive a GTO and no one has done a single conversion before in the UK so it has been a troublesome choosing the right one. Mark;)

Mark:) The picture above show what the anti surge delete is. The anti surge is a design of compressor housing. Your turbo has anti surge, the pic above doesnt. It is deleted to aid spool, but narrows the compressor map.
TLicense
we have already tried one Tony. What did you make of it? Did it do what it said on the tin?
Guest GTO NEMESIS
Ah! so the offer of changing my new expensive blower to an anti-surge wotsit at the cost of $400 is just, well wrong!? Terry, are you tuner? If so do you have a 4wd dyno? Mark:)

The delet is an extra as the machine a special insert ( not Garrett) No dyno mate I am afraid. Tony, seems a very nice turbo, depends on your goals

Terry, are you tuner? If so do you have a 4wd dyno? Mark:) The gt42rs comes with the anti surge housing like yours as standard ( and should not cost more) ..it's the anti-surge delete that is extra as pictured in Terry's pic. Jake
Ah! The old Anti Anti Surge modifications! Cunning. My aunty is anti-anti-surge housings BTW. [/bid to get this back into Chit Chat]
TLicense
Tony, seems a very nice turbo, depends on your goals My only concern about it is how hard it's going to spool. I want good boost at high RPM, but don't want all the power coming in within a couple of hundred rpm. It'll make the car too snappy. Have you got a dyno graph of a car with that turbo? I'm looking at some camshaft options to try and flatten the torque curve some, even if it's at the expense of top end. To be honest that shouldn't be too much of an issue, as the turbo is going to be more than capable of supporting more hp than I could use on the street anyway, I'll just be eating into that reserve more than most.
