Guest bluefrog
Hi all, joined on here recently as been thinkin bout swappin the civic type r for a nice hefty old soop, been gathering info... I've found a place with a decent selection of pretty tidy imported soops, one in particular caught my eye - as in subject line it's a 93 j-spec twin turbo 6spd manual, red with original gunmetal toyota 17" aw's. It's done bout 63000 miles, the interior is lookin tired but the exterior bodywork is spotless and straight as is the engine bay. As well as std features it has driver & passenger airbags, cruise control, apexi air filter & s/s exhaust (I think its apexi also). As in the subject line they are asking £9990, this includes reg, tax, service inc.cam belt change and 12 month warranty. I just cant help thinking this is still a lot of money for a 13 year old car! Would greatly appreciate your opinions...
Darren
Yes its too much IMHO. I'd only give em £6k for it.
terribleturner
Id give a bit more as it's a 6-speed, but yes £9990 is too much imo
Darren
Id give a bit more as it's a 6-speed, but yes £9990 is too much imo What an extra £1?? it is RED you know??!!!
terribleturner
Oh yeah i missed that
merckx
At least £1400 too much. There aren't loads of manual cars around, just the more common auto and tiptronic cars which you don't really want do you! (Darren and Terribleturner) I've got a red car as you've probably already guessed, they look superb when highly polished like mine.
terribleturner
Meow Still red though
chuck_legend
Bud, i paid that for mine in silver over 2 yrs ago!! i would reckon you should be looking for around 8k.
jamesmark
way way to much. ok so mines is an auto. best colour black also a 93 and 65k ish on clock full leather interior 19"alloys cruise and the usual soop trimmings also added bonus it was standard (for me it was a bonus the wonderful dudes at dvla has pinched 6 points off me) apart from a shitty hks induction ans the 19s and a top secret front and sideskirts and i only paid £6500 for mine that one looks far to standardfor that price...................rip off
merckx
Meow Still red though I don't think they show up too well on photo's and can look a little dull when they're not polished. I gave mine a really good polish last year and it looked superb. TBH I think it depends on a particular car, some black ones I've seen look great and others look horrible. I think it's the same with all the Supra colours, they need polishing!
jamesmark
I think it's the same with all the Supra colours, they need polishing! mines looks good but it does need a good polish, roll on the summer as am not doing it just now
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
i reckon a standard tt 6 speed should be £8500 and more for ones with lower miles and more mods. it all depedns in condition too but a ball park figure say 8500 for stock average miles
Tom
I wouldn't buy that one, it does look quite tired and the paint work has faded loads, keep searching
Jake
Hi Bluefrog I'm sure you've got the message by now but yes it's over priced. It's an unpopular colour and those wheels don't do it any favours at all. Are they 16" or 17"? Looks like 16" to me, judging by the large tyre sidewalls. This means it also has the crappy j-spec brakes. Keep looking mate.
lockys96
the man is probably making 2k of it at that price. that sort of money can by you a nice 95spec with or without mods. check autotrader and compare 93 prices
ManwithSupra
I did a swap with my Civic Type R and my current supra (1995 J-spec TT) and negotiated.. In the end i got the Supra with a full Service, MOT and a year's Tax and oh and an £1,500 cash from the garage.
tbourner
I got £1000 off mine when I said I didn't want a warranty - something worth doing IMO.
Chiefgroover
£6.5K would be plenty, its not exactly stunning.
toyotasuprauk
I'd say 6.5 to 7 for that.
Guest bluefrog
Cheers everyone! gawd, I'm so glad I posted on here b4 doing something stupid... I will keep looking, I think £8000 should get me a fairly tidy soop and should leave me some ££s left to spend on mods Ben
toyotasuprauk
£8k should get you a very nice car, it might just take a bit of time to find the right one.
Bobbeh
I wouldnt pay near 10 for it, 7 would be nice. And Jake is correct, they're 16s.
Chris Wilson
Halve it and it's about right! Why is the interior tired at that mileage (which is VERY low for the year...)?
JohnA
No leather, possibly small brakes, old age and suspect mileage (along with lack of proper history) Keep looking bud...
Darren
There aren't loads of manual cars around, just the more common auto and tiptronic cars which you don't really want do you! (Darren and Terribleturner) Common Tipronics?! Probably less Tiptronics than manuals about!!
