cats removal and the dreaded m.o.t.

hi all, this is my very first post since joining site, i have a basic 3.0 litre supra non-turbo version with auto gears(1993), and my local garage said it will be very hard to remove the front cat and the rear cat is no problem to remove, but my main worry is that "will i pass my emissions test on the m.o.t.???", please can anyone give me some knowledge on this matter, many many thanks Dom..

I am going to get this done on my TT soon, next few weeks. my Supra is 1993, and there is no problem, i checked it with the place doing the work for me.

You'll be ok on all '93, '94 and some (early) '95 imports. They only have to pass a basic non-cat emissions test which it should fly through as long as its running well. All UK spec and '95 or later have to have a cat test and you need at least 1 cat on (possibly both) to pass that.

Just to confirm UK Specs need the front cat on to pass, mine passed ok with the back one removed as its the smaller of the 2. But then again there is always round the emission test..!

thanks for the advice guys and gals, as i have had my m.o.t. done with the rear smaller cat removed, the emissions passed with flying colours, brilliant thank you...
