as your obviosly a fan of toyota reliability forget the rangerover.unless its one of the very latest.they do have style and presence but everybody regrets buying them i did. as for 14-18mpg if thats what you get for the supra then allow 9mpg for the rangerover. have enclosed pic of my hack 2.5tdi audi this car runs on thin air 45mpg handles well, pretty refined, looks tidy and owes me next to nothing my best car comes and goes but i can see myself in this come another 5 years. Richard

In a car like that its no longer about 1/4 mile speeds. I am thinking of a range rover as no matter what car I get it will just never shape up to the supra. No car I ever own again will be able to. But a luxury barge with big presence that is as different as it can be from a supra may be acceptable. Obviously I never want to have a car thats got pish all power ever again so the top power model available is the only one that will interest me.

I think what the other half wants is to be a bit higher, a bit safer, and a bit comfier than everyone else on the road lol. I know what you are saying a decent lexus, or BMW, or mercedes auto saloon would fit the bill for her (apart from the higher aspect). This however is where we start to fall out though. I don't want to step out of a supra and get into a normal same old street car. The Aristo I got was about as far a compromise as I was prepared to go down that road. To be fair I think even a decent M5 would still leave me feeling a bit dissapointed (and she knows that).

I mean its like you have the barbie twins for 4 years and then someone takes them away and gives you Felicity Kendall, now she aint a bad deal, bit long in the tooth but presentable, nevertheless you'd be dissapointed. However if you swapped the twins for dawn french you'd initially be pissed off, but there are aspects to her that are totally different and likeable in her own rights and you could grow to love her. Felicity Kendall however would continue to age and eventually you'd hate her for not being barbie.

I'd like to get an extreme off-road wagon and go offroading with my best mate but again thats not gonna happen as she'll just not want that either. Again compromise is required. I can still go grass-laning and hooning around on some of the off road sites in a range rover, I can still have a luxury leather sofa with aircon and gadgets in a range rover, and I can still have a fair bit of grunt in a range rover. She can have herself a big boot, safe vehicle, and auto box. Neither of us are 100% happy but neither of us is totally hacked off.

For the £8-10k price braket I am more than willing to consider any vehicle that can stand next to a range rover vogue and be considered equal or better in that field.

Do whatever suits yourself, i had the sup TT and loved it and i still do, i wouldn't hesitate at having another (especially a big single:eyebrows: )

though with changing circumstances prevailing, i wanted something with more space, though i didn't want to lose the toys!!!

I've gotta 4.6hse, (see pic) its fully loaded, electric memory cream leather heated seats, fully adjustable air suspension, dipping mirrors when reverse is selected (things like that) harmon kardon sound. loads of things on it to go wrong you may say! but its such a pleasure to drive, totally different to the sup.

I now "cruise everywhere" as opposed to getting on the A1 and try and waste any other high performance car on the road. I do miss the power of the sup, but the 4.6 v8 lump in sport mode isn't that sluggish!!!

The fuel consumpsion IS 14-20mpg, i got mine gas converted within 2 weeks of buying it, i now get about 240-270 miles to a £32 tank full of gas:more:

As i said at the beginning, its you and your missus choice at the end of the day, do whatever suits you's.

If you have any further questions, plaease don't hesitate to ask.

Mike.:yu:

Thats the exact one I am after. I'm hearing a lot of people saying the electrics can cause problems but is that just because people try and ford torrential rivers in them? A guy at a 4X4 centre did the whole sucking in of breath thing when I mentioned the 4.6 and said he wouldnt touch one with a barge pole as the blocks went porous??? Gassing one up seems to me to cost about £2k which would limit my budget to £8k for initial purchase. To be honest the supe was doing around 18mpg and very few miles so the costing for fuel would be very similar.

The electrics are absolutely fine on mine.

It did however have a engine change in its life, as i've got the receipts to prove it, not sure why???

I was lucky with my gas conversion, a friend did it, he has his license to convert them and only charged me £1300 cash. However, he's reluctant to do anymore as he's a part time taxi driver for a side income, he finds he gets more money doing that, although i could always ask him if you got one!:mobile:

I know this is going in completely the opposite direction but have you considered a Toyota Prius? It'd be practical, comfortable and extremely cheap to run! It's kinda cool because it's more of an environmental choice than a style one, you see them parked outside houses worth £10m around here! With all the money you save you could have a rediculously fast Supra or start thinking about something Italian :p

Well I can't go offroad in that and my current supra would give italian metal a damn good champ at its heels already and bearing in mind I'm a loon stupidity would win out in the end :)
