Range rover Vogue 4.6 SE

The mrs is hinting heavily at a range rover she's seen locally to replace the Aristo with. Its a dapper 4.6 SE. I've seen a better one on autotrader This little beauty

Anyone know anything about the vehicles? Other than they are thirsty?

My uncle has one - his is 4 years old with about 80000 miles otc. He gets about 18mpg(!), has had it back to Range Rover dealership for A/c - cost 700 to fix and a few other things... oh yeah an oil leak form somewhere which they cant find. I suppose at the end of the day its still an old Rover engine in there.

My brother in law had one, they're great offroad! We took it across a few ploughed fields and through a few streams/small rivers(!) at my parents farm. Managed to get it stuck though and had to get a tractor to pull it out :D

However, not so sure how they are on the road, but thats not exactly what they're for!

I know fuel economy is appauling (14mpg average) and service costs are huge. He's recently changed it to a '98 911 turbo and now calls that economical!

Depending on age that will either be the V70R AWD or the 850R FWD. I think there may be an 850R AWD on the very last of the 850's but if there is its rare as rocking horse shit. The first V70's are virtually the same shape as the 850 model they replaced and IMO the better looking of the models. The newer model that has a double smoother corner on the bonnet and other edges looks a bit pants. The 850R hits 265 bhp but only permanently if its the manual the auto drops its boost after so many seconds. The V70R does the same thing as the auto 850's.

Check out the Toyota Prado Brian..its the Colerado Jap import version..I had one on loan over Christmas from JEM..they have a few coming in...take one for a testy before you buy a Rogue Rover he he!

I had the older shape to that..K reg it was wicked to drive..felt like id been given a Knighthood..but other people on the road hated it...it was socially worse than driving a BMW...the ball joints went £800 each plus labour after about 6 months of ownership..it was the first of the last of that model with Air Suspension I remmber pressing the lower button to come down to the level of the Maccy Dees drivethru window..they must of thought i was a right 't*$$er' lol

Ok The Prado dosn't generally have piped leather, but you aint going to be spending a lot of time relaxing on the hard shoulder in a Prado..but its well comfy great 3.4 engine (if you can find a petrol)

How many Range Rovers do you see in third world countries, what do the U.N. drive about in, and the News Crews in war torn countries...?

Seriously take a text drive in one you'll love it.

Dont be lured by the beautiful interior...happened to me a few times..i used to buy a car if i liked the look of the dash..the beauty is only skin deep!

Landcruiser Prado..may have one shortly so I'll be ya guinni pig if ya like and if i get it soon you can take it for a run and see what ya think if you havent bought anything by then!

This time around I am going to sell my current vehicle before I buy another one so plenty of time fella. At the moment I am just looking around. Anything I like the mrs hates and vice versa. The range rover would be a serious and I mean serious compromise on my side. But they don't look too bad and that interior is luxury and a half and I do like my interiors. If its gonna cost me more than the supe just to keep it running though then another think may be needed. After all there must be a reason why a 50k motor new is less than 10k after 7-8 years.

Two word. Nissan Patrol.

Get a lot more toys for your money. Went in my dads over xmas and, if I had the money, I'd get one without thinking twice.

I saw one of them the other day it looked well nice...it looked tougher than Mike Tyson...what model year has ya Dad got? I might look into them as another option myself..if they are not overly expensive..certainly ideal luggage space which is what Im looking for, also will need to build a cage in the back (no not for the other half lol)

Only thing I dont like about them is the unsemetrical rear doors one is smaller then the other..always looked a bit odd!

Why are we all going through a 4x4 fad right now? Im sure the weather will improve one day:sos:

Whatever I buy Bryan I'll let ya try it out if im down that way!

as your obviosly a fan of toyota reliability forget the rangerover.unless its one of the very latest.they do have style and presence but everybody regrets buying them i did. as for 14-18mpg if thats what you get for the supra then allow 9mpg for the rangerover. have enclosed pic of my hack 2.5tdi audi this car runs on thin air 45mpg handles well, pretty refined, looks tidy and owes me next to nothing my best car comes and goes but i can see myself in this come another 5 years. Not sure of the year. I don't think it's more than two years old though. It does look hard though and it is huge. I parked the Supra next to is and it looked tiny. Thought about parking under it when it rained. :)

Think its outa my budget...but I'll have a look at some on autotrader...I guess id be looking at a 98/99 or maybe slightly older...def a cool looking wardrobe though with enough room for an ensuite bathroom!
