lockys96
that isnt true, it all depends on what u prefer mate. i think you need to see a video of marko's white supra in american. it was for sell, and did a 8sec 1/4 mile. mind u, it does have around 1400hp
RedM
Isn't Leons Supra and auto?
Pete
The 6Spd box is stronger for high power (500bhp +) in OEM form.
Guest t180985
how much power can you get from the auto without it breaking? 450bhp?
Alex
You can't get any power FROM the auto....but you can put about 700hp through it...but I'd change to a TH400 autobox before that. The TH400 is a replacement gear set for the auto, still works like and is an auto - it's just stronger than stock....a TH400 can take over 1000BHP. terribleturner
TBH if i heard that from a tuning company i'd probably walk away from them as they obviously have little knowledge over the supra. I've driven various auto's before and didn't really want one but i have to admit that i love it and have never had a days trouble with it at all (touch wood). chilli
been asking around a few tuning companys and have been told not to go for an auto gear box becuase they are not very good for tuning yep, it would be very hard to 'tune' an auto box, or any box come to think of it
Guest t180985
ok what i meant was is there any issues with tuning supras that have the auto box
Alex
There could be hundreds of issue's or non - it depends how good the base car is. Where you'd consider an uprated clutch on a manual you'd get a higher stall torque converter on an auto... You really have to state your aims for this to be worthwhile. Guest t180985
ok well i havent bought a car yet, i was looking at gettin an auto supra but if they arnt so good for tuning i might just get the manual

Soop Dogg
You'll be fine with an auto, mate. (If you are ok with an auto that is.) Drive both first to work out which one you want. Don't choose one over the other on how 'tunable' you've been told it is. Both can be tuned to beat just about aything else you're likely to come up against on the road, so why worry. A stock auto box is apparently good for close to 600bhp, but at that sort of level you'll be VERY close to the limit and you'll stand a good chance of breaking it sooner or later. If 450bhp(at the fly) is roughly the area you're aiming at, it'll take it all day long.
veilsideTT
Ive put down 510bhp on the tarmac for about 6 months now. That probably puts about 600-620 at the flywheel (lets stay on topic please:boxing: ) So thats what ive done anyhow, if going Single turbo is enough "tuning" for you. Also, there isnt much that will keep up in a straight line! PS, Im swapping to 6speed next winter, not because i dont like the auto box because i do love the gearbox. I just want to of owned both so i can judge for myself which is the better box.
Gazboy
If you can't get an idle to redline dyno pull on an auto- how do you map an aftermarket ECU or a GReddy Emanage on one- use first gear?????
Guest t180985
ok sounds good just so you know i was looking into the twin turbo supra tbh i think i would prefere an auto for a while as i get stuck in alot of traffic so will make going to work easier
