allymcmurdo
Has anyone experienced a strange bleeping noise coming from behind the centre console? It started off with one beep in a blue moon but now its one per second????? I thought it was my Alpine head unit which was fitted 12months ago but after removing that and the heater control unit it was still occuring.it happens when the key is turned to accessory and when engine is on too. I just have to have to stereo on loud at the mo!!!!
JamesG
As far as I am aware, the only bleeping noises that the supra makes are: 1. When engine off, key in and door open. Makes a pinging noise. 2. When in reverse, makes beeping noise. Maybe something is shorting out? James.
SimonB
I think 2 is only on some Supras (mine doesn't), and some also beep when you open the door with the lights on. Can't think of anything else that might beep though. Aftermarket alarm or something?
Supraguy
Some have parking sensors attached. Are you close to anything when you hear this beeping?
pulse
Mine beeps in reverse with no sensors anywhere.. it's actually kind of annoying. And my headlights turn themselves off if I turn off the engine and open the driver's door, so no beeps there.. Aside from door open, key-in-ignition, I don't know of any others.. -p
allymcmurdo
Thanks guys but still no luck. Its a diffferent noise to the reversing signal,it appears to be coming from the black box behind the dash, directly behind where the heater control is.Does anyone know what this box is? Supraguy
The parking sensor noise I am talking about is separate from the "beep-beep" reverse noise you hear automatically when you place the shifter in Reverse. It varies in beep frequency depending how close you are to something, or not at all if there is nothing around. All this is on top of the reverse beeps... makes for a bleeping headache!! allymcmurdo
It doesn't have any sensors fitted and the beeping is constant as soon as the key is turned, when driving and stationary

(the ! inside a red triangle).. if it's none of the above then it sounds like it's trying to warn you of a problem (though I haven't a clue what that problem could be, sorry).. -p
Steve W2
Speaking of that bloody beeping noise whilst reversing, has anyone started slashing wires in an attempt to stop the car from sounding like a bus. Is it just a case of cutting the right wire, or does the wire have alternate uses? I don't have any other beeping noises than the ones mentioned above. Just for the record. allymcmurdo
Thanks guys, there's no Warning lamp on the dash.i'm going out of my mind.I think it's time for Toyota to get their diagnostic gear out.I really haven't got a clue what it can be? Failing that, maybe is time to go for a TT
Suprash
Guys, what Supras are fitted with motion detecters for reverse, I wasnt aware of this. I was aware some had a beep-beep noise, mine doesnt, should it, has someone been a chopping in my car......
Steve W2
I'd be worried Ashley, sounds like somebody's hjad their chopper out in your car! Seriously though, it would be good to find out if all the cars made the reverse beeping. Or only some, and why? Surely, it wasn't an optional extra? It's just a reverse gear reminder.. don't know why only some have it, but it's not a parking sensor. They're pretty common in asia/india etc in most cars. As for why some don't have it, the answer is actually pretty interesting. Nah, I'm lying, I haven't got a clue. -p
Supraguy
Argh... youre not listening to what I am saying. I have the "bus reverse beep" just like others are talking about. The parking sensor is another beep on top of that. No clue if it was a stock option, or if it was an aftermarket thing.

I have this problem, its definitely heater related, my heating knob is redundant, i can only have cold setting, good for now, freeze my nads off in a couple of months. What d'ya reckon?? switch knackered? it obviously consists of a variable resistor, if that has broke it would cause it to stick to one temp, anyone got any idea's? got told rear stat? where/whats this?
