Auto Fluid change

Recommended Posts

After extensive use of the SEARCH facility, I've drawn a blank.

1. How much oil will drain from a hot Auto box.

2. Are there any hidden nasties when doing a change - you know the "oh, you have to remember to... and that needs Toyota special tool no... etc.

I've read up on TypeIV oil etc, so that angle is covered. Any advice is well received.

John as far as I remember you drop about 2.5 -3L when you just do the drain via the drain plug. Type IV fluid comes in 4L cans.

If you do the whole thing and pump the system then you need the whole lot as per the manual.

No nasties as I recall, just remember to warm up the added fluid in the box before you do the final level check.

hi mate, as soon as possible. dont know who can do it. the cossie bloke that did lees skyline is busy and needs a kick up arse to get things done, he said its only a 3 or 4 hour job. and mate dunk has done his too. he had to drop box to get engine out.

was thinking of a auto gearbox specilist local?

would like a temp gauge at same time. dont want to dump £120 of fluid. just want it to go right. sick of going to drag strip and taking 1/10th off my times
