Keith C
Bah - 71k miles and the clutch has just started slipping. Currently only does it at high throttle openings, in 5th/6th, at the single-twin transition, but how bad is it likely to get how quickly? Do I have 50 miles, 500 miles or 5000 miles left before it's undrivable. Need to know as it'll affect whether I can go on 2 Dam 2 Furious
GavinL
I wouldn't risk it TBH, it could go bad very quickly.
B1SEP
Once it starts slipping id replace immediately, if you dont you could kill the flywheel and they aint cheap (unlike clutch, cover, rbearing)
Keith C
Flywheel isn't a problem, as it was phucked and being replaced anyway. But good point, not something I'd considered...
B1SEP
weve just done the clutch on my own supe, such a cheap and easy job, makes a nice change to some of the cars we do (Pulsar....Arrrghhhh!!!!!) Keith, invest in a lovely jubbly JUN superlight flywheel ma man'
Keith C
Heh - nah, I've heard the lightened ones make them sound like bags of bolts. I already have the car booked in to have it sorted, but it was just the trip to 'Dam I was wondering about. Oh well
bromy
Dont risk going, mine started to go at elvington early on in the year, so deceided to try to get home only lasted another 15 miles then no drive whatever, get it done asap. _______________________________________ nick
Doughie
Hi Keith I'm amazed the stock original clutch has lasted so long ! 71k miles is pretty good considering it's been BPU for a few years now. I think stock Toyota clutch is about £480 or so, fitted, which isn't too bad. off topic - how's the gearbox whine ? is it still there ? Keith C
Yeah, still there, not got any louder, and someone with 15k on the clock had the same, so I'm not worried. Chris is going to replace both the flywheel and fit one of his uprated clutches - would have been done last week but Toyota didn't supply the flywheel in time. garethrees
Mine went at 61k and I did the fly wheel too.. not cheap. I was told 'its down to your rather enthusiastic driving sir'. Far cop. p.s. Once it starts in 6th change it ASAP.
Alex
Justin, Jun don't list a flywheel on their website. Not for a TT anyway. The only one listed for a Supra is for the NA. Can you confirm if you're able to buy JUN made TT Flywheels?
