francis
Hey there guys, Anyone know of a good place to get an exhaust fitted somewhere near central London (SW5)? Would go to Phoenix, but I know how busy they are plus it's a bit of a trek for simple job like this. Cheers, Francis
Homer
Most people just go to the local exhuast centre for jobs like. Most will do it for a bit of cash in hand...
Ray
I normally use Grays motorsport in Hanwell
terribleturner
I'd do as Darryl says, Kwik Fit and the likes will do it for a couple of quid.
francis
Cheers, found out there's a Top Gear just across the river and they know exhausts pretty well so I'll give them a bell. Last time I tried Kwik Fit they said they couldn't fit a customer's part!
imi
Kwik Fit wont fit it for you as its not a part supplied by them. TopGear...if its the one in St Albans then they are complete muppets....bloody rip-off merchants...
Scoboblio
Kwik Fit wont fit it for you as its not a part supplied by them This is what I thought, before the £20 he charged me went straight into his pocket and straight over the bar a couple of hours later
terribleturner
I had a local tyre/exhaust fitters charge me a fiver on one of my old cars about 6/7 years ago.
francis
Well did the ring around today, Top Gear want 100 quid, Grays won't fit customers' parts and all the other places seem to want 70 quid+..... Perhaps I'm being a tight git, but it seems a bit much for what is probably a half an hour job! Perhaps I'll just be patient and wait until Feb when the car can go to Phoenix. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.
terawua
70 quid! you could get 2 jackstands and a trolley jack for that and do it yourself!
francis
That's what I'm thinking LOL..... on something like a Fiesta you could probably get an exhaust and have it fitted for that price..
terawua
Seriously though.... half an hour job if you have some of the right bits (jackstands, jack, socket set)... (like new stainless steel fine thread 10mm bolts - odds on the ones on there are rusted and will snap when you start tugging on them). Where in London BTW.... tyr these people they have done a bit of work for me... for comparison, getting car on ramp, getting exhaust welded and MOT was 75 quid, so not too bad. Oh and every other word from the proprietors mouth is an expletive! francis
Cheers mate, as it happens that's just down the road from me (im in SW5), I'll give them a ring. I was expecting 40 quid or somewhere around that.. The new exhaust has the bolts and gaskets ready to go all in good nick so should be easy enough
terawua
Yeah... SW5 is Brompton(ish) isnt it? if so 5-10 mins.... call them up.
