Mike B
I'm booked up to toe TOC track attack event at bruntingthorpe and having read the brief track car thread in the chat section it found me asking the question what should I be careful of and what should I look for. I have big brakes so that should be no issue, but did read oil coolers, power steering overheating probs,... Should I be looking at putting some more selected guages in other than the; water temp boost x 2 (one on the hks evc v7) to avoid any known problems? I don't intent to abuse the car but it will get used here more than ever, so can the more experienced members give me a checklist to get prepped...? I'm BPU++ FMIC e-manage 355 brakes '94 6sp. michael
I've only ever had issues with the PAS fluid and running out of tyre tread - otherwise a warm up and cool down lap with short(ish) sessions shold see you right. Keep an eye on tyre pressures through the day, fluid levels etc... otherwise have fun
SimonB
I would change the oil before you go. Brunters is an open pit lane event, so you stay out as long as you want. Keep your sessions to 15 minutes and let it cool down between. Do a cool down lap to let your brakes cool down gradually, and leave your handbrake off when you're letting the car cool down. Obviously check tyre pressures, fluids etc. Start slow and build up speed over the day, don't try and race people and keep an eye on your mirror and if someone's behind you back off on a straight and let them by. Much better to do that and give yourself some room than try and stay ahead of them, that's very annoying.

That's sound advice, I used to race windsurfers at world class level, (a rare occupation, I know...), and the idea there was to stay at the front under all circumstances - until you explode - the guy who explodes last wins! 15 years of conditioning to overcome here - one of the reason I'm so nervous of it, and why I picked bruntingthorpe!! "IT'S NOT A CONTEST" - KEEP REPEATING.... I used to be given windsurfing kit - I have to pay for the supra!!
