Mike
isn't 'Tein' what people usually go for? I think that's adjustable...?

Nic
If you want adjustable ride height you will need a set of coilovers (rather than separate dampers and springs) such as HKS, Tein, JIC, Cusco, etc. What do you use the car for will determine which set up to go for, general road comfort, fast road use, racing, drag, etc? Nic
BTW not a good idea to post the same question more than once in different sections.

garetheves
I had KYB shocks on mine but swapped to Koni's. Much better with the Konis IMO if you are going that route instead of Coilovers

Dragonball
The Cuscos - thought these were traditionally very hard? Old Teins used to knock a bit I think - new ones these days are fine...
Chris Wilson
Quality wise the Konis are head and shoulders above the rest. a while ago Koni said they were stopping doing their dampers for the MKIV due to poor demand. Have they re started making them? They are adjustable, but are designed to be adlustable for WEAR, not to be easily adjustable to allow the end user to alter damping. they need taking off, and the springs removing in order to adjust them, but that's probably only every 80,000 miles or so Bilsteins are available and superb quality (if garages manage to put the spring seats on the right way up.... )

Chris Wilson
Those are the Konis I thought had been discontinued. I started to base my kits on the more expensive Bilsteins because of this. Both are excellent, so if you can find Konis they will be a good choice.
go-NATs
i heard a lot of bad stuff about "tein" . I've got the TEIN-HR coilovers, and the ride is firm, but comfortable. They are adjustable. I also notice that the slower I drive, the more I hate the firmness. Just incentive to go faster!!! go-NATS

I started to base my kits on the more expensive Bilsteins because of this. Both are excellent, so if you can find Konis they will be a good choice. they guy doing my work peter at s bits (mr2 speacialist) deals with koni direct has done for years and he said that they have discontinued them but reinstated now, there is a but koni still make them for other companies for the mkiv too cant remember who they were he told me two, peter thinks that for all round you cant do better than koni or a set of billies and for springs eibach is the best:ecstatic:
daboss
so i will stick to koni's.is it hard to adjust the Ride-height ?
Lucifer
You cant adjust ride height with just dampers, you will need a coilover kit or a Spring platform lifting kit.
Chris Wilson
so i will stick to koni's.is it hard to adjust the Ride-height ? They do not have adjustable spring seats. I will be offering Bilsteins with adjustable seats fairly soon, it may be possible for me to offer this with Konis, but i intend to do the first lot with Bilsteins. Some will be for a stock sort of spring rate, some will be circuit / track day orientated. If a big enough demand existed I'd do drag race ones, too. Don't press me on price or a time scale though, both are in the air at the moment, I am too busy to address this properly right now. Cheers. Nic
The TRD dampers are made by Bilstein and have a 3 stage adjustable spring seat that can be adjusted in steps to lower the car by 10mm, 15mm and 20mm from memory. http://www.trdparts.jp/english/parts_shock.html
